Al Rich is the President and Founder of ACR Solar which has been located on Gibbons Drive since 1992. Al has over 46 years of in-depth solar research and development experience, 5 US solar Patents, and extensive executive management, strategic planning, sales and marketing experience. Al and his team received the Sacramento Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Companies Award twice.
Among many accomplishments, Al was awarded SARTA “Distinguished Achievement in Clean Tech,” is a DOE Energy Related Inventions Program (ERIP) Grant Award winner and a DOE National "Award for Energy Innovation" winner. Al was the first in the Nation to receive SRCC - OG300 solar water heating system rating and was a Consultant to GreenPeace and PrimeTime Live on Whitehouse "Solar Gate" story in 1990. He was the top District Manager for SEARS Solar, American Solar King, in 1983, Speaker for NESEA at MIT and Entrepreneurship speaker and Case Study at Babson College, Wellesley, MA. Al Founded of AC-Rich & SUN, 1979 from which ACR Solar was an outgrowth with the slogan and commitment to: “Quality, Value, and Integrity Since 1979.”
Al and his fun-loving wife Susan love to travel. They have 4 accomplished children, live in a solar home in Carmichael and drive an all-Electric Mustang Mach-E. Al has a Political Science and Research Processes Degree from Principia College, in Elsah, Il. Before getting into solar, Al owned “ACAR” (Antique Classic Auto Restoration) in Fort Lauderdale, FL and still loves to restore cars including his 1962 Buick Skylark Convertible. Al is now finally 95% retiring and is very grateful for the wonderful ACR Solar team which is now going under a new name, “Bright Light Solar” to be run by his son Clark and partner Chris McKay.
